چکیده

Introduction A low power OOK transceiver for short-range wireless sensor networks (e.g. body area networks) is developed in this paper. The target receiver (RX) sensitivity and transmitter (TX) output power is -55dBm and -20dBm, respectively, assuming -25dB propagation loss at the 1-m communication distance and -5dB x 2 loss at TX/RX antennas. The target power consumption is 50μW at 1Mbps. In order to reduce the power, (1) sampling circuits are used instead of continuous analog circuits, (2) the power supply voltage (VDD) is reduced to 0.5V, (3) the RX input is directly sampled without LNA, because high sensitivity is not required for the 1-m communication, (4) low career frequency of 315MHz instead of 2.4GHz is used to reduce the required bandwidth of the sampler, (5) a career-frequency-free (CFF) intermittent sampling (IS) is newly proposed to reduce the number of sampling, thereby reducing the power of the sampler to 1/315 of that of the conventional continuous sampling.

16-2 315MHz Energy-Efficient Injection-Locked OOK Transmitter and 8.4μW Power-Gated Receiver Front-End for Wireless Ad Hoc Network in 40nm CMOS

A 315MHz injection-locked OOK transmitter and a powergated receiver front-end for wireless ad hoc network are developed in 40nm CMOS. The developed injection-locked frequency multiplier for carrier generation by edge combining achieves 11μW power consumption at 315MHz. The proposed power-gated low noise amplifier with current second-reuse technique achieves the lowest power consumption of 8.4μW...

OOK Super-Regenerative Receiver for Medical Implant Communications

Recent advances in the medical field are spurring the need for ultra-low power transceivers for wireless communication with medical implants. To deal with the growing demand for medical telemetry, the FCC commissioned the Medical Implant Communications Services (MICS) standard in 1999 in the 402–405 MHz band. This paper presents a 350 W FSK/MSK direct modulation transmitter and a 400 W OOK supe...

OOK Transmitter in 32 nm DG FinFET Technology

There are several 60 GHz transceiver architectures that have been explored and reported in the past employing the On Off Keying (OOK) Modulation. All of these designs are primarily based on the conventional bulk CMOS architecture. In this paper, we propose a power efficient double gate (DG) MOSFET based OOK Transmitter in 32 nm DG FinFET technology. The proposed novel OOK modulator consists of ...

A Sub-µW Tuneable Switched-Capacitor Amplifier-Filter for Neural Recording Using a Class-C Inverter

A two stage sub-µW Inverter-based switched-capacitor amplifier-filter is presented which is capable of amplifying both spikes and local field potentials (LFP) signals. Here we employ a switched capacitor technique for frequency tuning and reducing of 1/f noise of two stages. The reduction of power consumption is very necessary for neural recording devices however, in switched capacitor (SC) cir...
